Background

Building a world we all want to live in is a daring and ambitious goal. But if Hydro-Québec’s history has shown us anything, it is that together, we can accomplish great things and do what at first seems impossible. Together, we can expand the notion of what is possible for the common good.

In spring 2020, more than 23,000 people participated in a broad consultation launched by Hydro-Québec that was designed to understand Quebecers’ ambitions and ideas in three key areas: the green economy, sustainable mobility and responsible energy use.

“Quebecers clearly have a strong desire to imagine their future and help develop a green economy and reduce greenhouse gases.”

– Sophie Brochu, President and CEO of Hydro-Québec

That’s why Hydro-Québec, as a leader in the energy, economy, social and environmental sectors, is launching a Coopérathon challenge for the fourth year in a row!

Challenge as part of the Cooperathon 2021

The challenge consists of finding innovative solutions to encourage citizens to take concrete action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Their actions can include opting for electric transportation, reducing their energy use, supporting the local economy, promoting food self-sufficiency, i.e., anything that can contribute to a greener society.

The objectives of the challenge are as follows:

  1. Propose ideas for concrete actions
  2. Showcase and promote actions taken by the population as a whole
  3. Create enthusiasm
  4. Demonstrate the impact of our actions

Your project will help create a greener Quebec. Let’s put our collective energy to work, once again, to use our collective strength to support an ambitious project and find solutions for Quebecers’ concerns.
