Background
For most people, real estate is their most significant financial asset, and purchasing a home or condo is often a leap into the unknown.
- Whether you’re a first-time buyer, or have owned several properties, it’s often a stressful and unpredictable experience.
- Properties don’t come with a user manual telling you how to best maintain your home, or what you need to do to renovate, redecorate, reduce your carbon footprint or ensure your home maintains its value over time.
- And when it comes time to sell, you’re faced with a host of questions and it’s hard to know where to start.
Housing is a central focus in our lives and being a homeowner comes with its share of obstacles and uncertainties, and demands a lot of time and energy. At each stage, there are many important issues to consider and there is a crying need to simplify the entire home ownership experience.
Challenge as part of the Cooperathon 2021
Desjardins is the leader in mortgage financing and home insurance in Quebec, and is seeking innovative solutions to simplify the owner-occupier experience. This Cooperathon challenge involves the entire ownership life cycle, and in particular the following 4 phases:
- Simplifying the process of purchasing and selling a residential property
- Increasing the value of a property throughout the ownership phase
- Making day-to-day management of a property easier, from regular maintenance to major renovations
- Improving the way services are delivered to property owners by professionals and experts
