Background
Developing digital competency is critical to modernizing Quebec society. Some professions will be heavily impacted by new disruptive technologies, such as artificial intelligence, while other as-yet-unknown jobs will emerge in response to these new paradigms. People will need digital skills to cope with the technological innovations that are coming in the years ahead. Digital competency is closely tied to professional development for all workers in the 21st century. That’s why everyone must be able to use the digital resources available to keep their professional skills up to date. How can we help professionals and other citizens improve their digital competency in all its dimensions to better support the development of tomorrow’s society?
The aim of the framework is to develop digital competency, defined as a set of skills necessary for the confident, critical and creative use of digital technologies to achieve objectives tied to learning, work, leisure, and inclusion or participation in society. The framework’s dimensions and their respective elements are designed to help individuals to become increasingly autonomous in their use of digital technologies in educational or professional contexts and in everyday life so that they are able, for example, to select the best digital tools to perform a particular task.
In the context of Cooperathon 2020, Ministère de l’Éducation et Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur challenges you:
to develop innovative solutions incorporating the dimensions of digital competency into various socioeconomic sectors. Your solution must include at least 1 of the following 12 dimensions:
- Exercising ethical citizenship in the digital age
- Developing and mobilizing technological skills
- Harnessing the potential of digital resources for learning
- Developing and mobilizing information literacy
- Collaborating via digital technology
- Communicating via digital technology
- Producing content via digital technology
- Using digital tools to foster inclusion and address diverse needs
- Mobilizing digital technology for personal and professional empowerment
- Solving diverse problems via digital technology
- Developing critical thinking with regard to the use of digital technology
- Adopting an innovative and creative approach to the use of digital technology
